Alpine 2019 Vehicle Eligibility, Categories, Seats and Apparel

The information provided here is extracted from the draft 2019 Alpine Supplementary Regulations. The DRAFT regulations are yet to be approved. This information is offered as guidance only to allow you to start planning.

Summary of the major changes for the 2019 Alpine

Vehicles

  • C3 has been added to the Classic Category and turbo cars are now allowed within the C1, C2 and C3 Categories only. No turbos will be permitted in any other Category as per previous Alpines.
  • As the event has changed status this year to a ‘State – other’ event, seats, seat mounts and harnesses must comply with the minimum requirement for a State Championship event. There is no requirement for a “winged” seat for this Alpine but harnesses must be a minimum 5 point including a crutch strap.

Apparel

  • All crew apparel is the same as last Alpine except for the inclusion of a mandatory FHR device. Again, as per minimum requirements for a State Championship event.

Vehicle Eligibility

The Event will be open to 2WD Historic Rally Cars, Production Rally Cars, Classic Rally Cars and Club Rally Cars accepted as being suitable for The Event by the Organisers. No 4WD vehicles will be considered unless specifically invited (within Category 7 below) by the Organisers.

Vehicles will be categorised as follows (see also Vehicle Category Regulations.

Category 1: H68 Historic Pre 1968
Vehicles complying with the current HRA Regulations and manufactured prior to 01/01/1968.

Category 2: H81 Historic Pre 1981
Vehicles complying with the current HRA Regulations and manufactured from 01/01/1968 to 01/01/1981.

Category 3: PRC Pre 1981
Any car complying with the Group 3C PRC Rally Car Regulations as published in the CAMS Manual with the restriction that cars must be 2WD, non forced induction and of a type manufactured on or prior to 01/01/1981.

Category 4: PRC Pre 2000
Any car complying with the Group 3C PRC Rally Car Regulations as per the current CAMS Manual with the restriction that cars must be 2WD, non forced induction and manufactured prior to 01/01/2000.

Category 5: Classic Rally Cars
Any car complying with the C1, C2 and C3 categories of the Classic Rally Car Regulations as per the current CAMS Manual and manufactured prior to 01/01/1989.

Category 6: CRC Group 3C Club Rally Cars
Any cars complying with the Group 3C CRC Club Rally Car regulations as per the current CAMS Manual with the restriction that cars must be non forced induction and manufactured prior to 01/01/1989.

Category 7: Invited Cars
Cars considered by the Clerk of Course as vehicles of distinction. Limited to 5 cars at the invitation of the Organisers as per the Regulations.

Fuel will be in accordance with Schedule G of the CAMS Manual and vehicles must be adequately muffled to comply with noise restrictions.

Vehicle Category Regulations

Competitors are advised to study the HRA website and Historic Rally Car, Classic Rally Cars and Club Rally Cars Regulations in the current CAMS Manual very carefully before selecting which Group they wish to enter.

A car that falls within the time frame does not automatically qualify it for that Group. Read and understand what limited modifications are allowed for cars in the Historic and Classic Groups.

Seats

Important Note: Seats provided for the occupants of competing cars shall:

  • be homologated by the FIA to the 8855/1999 or 8862/2009 standard; or
  • comply with Schedule C.

Unless original, the seat mountings shall comply with Schedule C or FIA Appendix J, Article 253-16.

Apparel

Apparel must comply with Schedule D Apparel of the current CAMS Manual for a State Level Gravel Rally event, including Frontal Head Restraint.

Helmets and all safety apparel must be taken to scrutiny to be checked for compliance.
