Michael started in 2 ltr Sports Sedans in the 90’s – 1600cc Australian Champion 1992 – i think, it was a while ago hahaha.
2004 Classic Adelaide Tarmac Rally Handicap winner and 4th outright 2005 Targa Tasmania Classic Winner outright. Completed 2007 Finke Desert race on KTM300 bike finished well in open 2 stroke class.
First gravel rally – Red Centre to Gold Coast 2008 – big learning experience – 13th in the end. Have competed Classic outback Trial – 4th outright 2010 – Otago Rally 2010 DNF after showing good pace in an Australian spec Historic Rally car against NZ BDG Escorts. Lots of club and State Rally’s.
Started Supersport 600 motorbike Road Racing again in 2015 – running many Victorian state and Several Australian Championship rounds 2015/2016 – usually running inside the top 5 at state level. Winner Victorian 2WD Rally Championship 2016. Winner Victorian Supersport Interclub Road Race bike championship A & B grade catagory and pre modern category also 2016 – was a busy year.
2017 ran the new Australian Rally X championship in the Escort rally car winning the 2WD category overall for the year and very competitive against the 4WD’s. 2018 ran a few RallyX rounds. Started racing Speedway Lightning Sprints 2018/2019 season with good success running 6th NSW title and several feature wins in Vic.
Alpine History – Competed as a navigator with Phil Eather ( for some fun ) in the last Alpine around Bright – ?? not sure what year then again at the first Lakes Entrance Alpine – 2003, very sick on the night stages and as that was no fun I said thanks but never again. First Alpine as a driver was in 2009 with Jenny Cole – 7th outright in an Historic catagory Escort. 2011 – 6th outright in the updated Club car Escort – teething problems in an untested car. 2013 – leading by more than a minute going into Saturday evening before a dead coil dropped us out of contention. 2015 – no rallying in the car for 18 months prior, won the tarmac stage and slightly wide on the first gravel stage on Saturday morning breaking the suspension and once again out. 2017 sat it out.
2019 – back with a new navigator and just running to have some fun and drive the car, Nick Seymour will be in the LH seat, some good nav experience in Hyundai’s etc currently running his own Fiesta in VRC’s. I have known his dad John Seymour for more than 30 years from our Ford Four Car Club days so is a good tie in with small Fords and rallying etc – looking to run an event prior to shake down the car and team. The team is looking to have a good clean fun rally and end up where we end up.
